How to make a strong first impression…. top 3 tips
When we welcome people to our home we hope they walk away saying how much they love it. But when it comes to home improvements do we focus on the most important aspects?
Research suggests to only takes seconds for the all important first impression. Women are more likely to notice the smell of a home so it is ideal to make sure subtle candles are lit.
Top three tips to make a positive first impression:
1 Front door
Entrances should feel secure and inviting. You can show your own style through colour. Pastel colours can be calming and inviting, bright colours can be striking and can make a statement. Choose a colour that reflects the era of the home and the story of your home.
You could also choose to hang a basket of flowers, they look great and smell great too. Make sure your door furniture is immaculate. If brass ensure that it is polished or if needed, replaced.
2 Hallway
Homeowners often do not spend a great deal of time in the hallway or staircase but it is possibly the most important aspect of a home. It leads to other rooms and should appear calm and fresh so keep clutter to a minimum and shoes, bags, keys, etc… ideally out of sight.
Consider a splash of fresh paint or flooring can give this busy area the attention it deserves. Light a subtle candle this will smell great and put your visitors at ease.
3 Front garden
If you are lucky enough to have a front garden it need not be high maintenance. Bay trees, shrubs or colourful pots can keep your garden looking cared for even through the winter months. Lighting can also work well to attract attention to a front door and make it look welcoming.
